Dermal Fillers
Dermal Fillers
The term “dermal filler” refers to injectable hyaluronic acid gel. This clear gel naturally occurs in the body and will gradually biodegrade over time. Skin naturally contains hyaluronic acid that fills spaces between collagen and elastin fibers. It can hold up to 50 times its weight in water and acts as a humectant to keep the skin hydrated. Due to aging, hyaluronic acid naturally decreases in the skin, which contributes to fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss.
Dermal fillers (Restylane®, Juvederm®, Versa®, RHA®) can be injected into the skin to restore hyaluronic acid, improve volume, and reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles.

Aftercare For Filler Treatments
You should expect some post-injection swelling, erythema (redness), and sometimes bruising after your injection. This is normal and will subside over 2 weeks. You will be able to resume normal activities immediately after the procedure with the exception of heavy exercise the same day (*Note: your provider may specify additional aftercare instructions based on the area injected). Avoid unnecessary touching or rubbing the injected area for 24 hours to reduce the risk of infection. Do not massage filler to reduce the risk of migration to unwanted areas. Arnica tablets or topical cream can be applied to reduce bruising. Mild lumps or unevenness is normal due to swelling, and 2 weeks should pass before re-evaluation.

Commonly Injected Areas
There are many areas that filler can be injected.
Here at Botoxie, your medical provider will provide an individualized facial assessment to determine which areas will best meet your goals.
Filler can be used to augment areas such as: cheeks, temples, nasolabial folds, lips, chin, and jaw to name a few.

What To Expect
Our medical providers will develop a plan with you to achieve your desired look.
Plan to remove any makeup or lipstick prior to your injection. We will then use topical antiseptics (such as alcohol) to clean and sanitize the skin.
Topical anesthetic may be applied for pain relief and comfort. Filler treatments can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the area and quantity of filler injected.

DERMAL FILLERS Before and After

FAQ's
Hyaluronic acid filler treatments typically last between 6 and 18 months, depending on the filler used and the region it is injected. The most common duration of filler is around 12 months.
Other injectable products like Sculptra can last up to 24 months. Sculptra contains poly-L lactic acid microcrystals that stimulate collagen formation and volume over time.
At Botoxie, we use a topical numbing cream which will be applied prior to treatment to reduce pain during the procedure. In some cases, a facial nerve block can be done to provide further numbing and comfort during the injections. Most clients feel treatments are very tolerable with proper technique.
